Our web sites are updated every 24 - 48 hours. We offer over 50,000 items online at our web sites. Hobby items are not normally marked for "in stock" status as these items are usually always available, with weekly restock shipments coming in from the manufacturers and suppliers. If and when a hobby item is out-of-stock and no longer available from the manufacturer or our secondary suppliers and/or is discontinued by the manufacturer, it will then be removed from the web site. Customers with backorders of these items will then be notified as soon as possible. Unless a customer specifically states "no backorders" we will assume that you want the out-of-stock item and will ship the iout-of-stock items as available at our discretion.
Toy items will usually be marked as "temporarily out of stock" if we do not anticipate a shipment within 7 days. If we expect restock of the item within 5 to 7 business days, we consider the product a current stock item.

However, artisan handcrafted specialty scale miniatures, doll house miniatures, scale model building components, scratch building supplies, model railroad craftsman building kits, scale miniature figures, doll house lights, doll house furniture, doll house miniatures, windows and doors, etc. vary in availability, depending on the artisan or cottage industry. CREDIT CARD ORDERS

Please note that your online "Order Confirmation" that was emailed to you, when you placed your order, is not your invoice, and it does not mean that your credit card has been charged. It only serves as a confirmation that we have received your order and it provides you with a receipt of acknowledgement and a reference.

Oakridge Hobbies, and its affiliated web sites, accepts Discover, Visa, and MasterCard credit cards. When using your credit card, please provide your credit card billing address if different from the shipping address and daytime/nighttime phone numbers. If the billing address or the security code does not match that which is on file at the financial institution, if authorization is not given for any reason, or if the issuing bank cannot support verification efforts, we reserve the right to cancel the order without notification. In most cases, "virtual credit cards" cannot be verified. We do not recommend using a virtual credit card on your Oakridge Hobbies orders.

If you regularly ship orders to an address other than your credit card billing address, we ask that you contact your credit card company and ask them to list the address as an alternate address on your account. Credit card companies are very willing to offer this service to you and it could mean less delays when placing your orders with Oakridge Hobbies, and its affiliated websites, and other companies. Please note that we cannot work out credit card problems with the financial institution; you must settle problems with them and reorder once the problem is resolved.

When ordering with your credit card please also have your credit card security code available. This code allows us to further verify your card. Credit card orders without a valid security code will be subject to processing delays and our normal shipment arrival estimations do not apply.

Your credit card will not be charged until your order's in stock items are pulled to fill your order, and your order is processed for shipping (See BACKORDERS below).

In the event that we run into a problem with your credit card, while processing your order, you be notified via email. If we do not get a response from you, within 72 hours, your order will automatically be cancelled, without further notification.

DEFECTIVE RETURNS

If the item you wish to return is inoperable, but has no apparent damage, it is considered defective. The instructions on how to handle this type of return will vary, since many manufacturers insist on handling defects directly. Defective merchandise may be returned to us as long as it is in new and unused condition. Used, defective merchandise should be returned directly to the manufacturer for warranty repair or replacement. Be sure that you have already sent your warranty card in for the item. Any and all Defects/Returns are returned at the customer's expense as we do not reimburse or pay for shipping. We also will not pay for any postage due on any Returns. All Returns must have a Return Authorization Number. Without a Return Authorization, your return will not be accepted, authorized or recognized, regardless of any proof of mailing.

Since many manufacturers insist on handling defects directly, assistance with missing puzzle pieces, paint-by-number paints, model parts, slot car parts, remote control parts, doll house parts, toy parts, or missing instructions must be handled directly with the manufacturer for warranty repair or replacement.

Manufacturer defects found after the product has been used revert to the manufacturer's warranty (a copy of which can be obtained upon customer request) and they will handle any problems for you directly. If you can determine that a product is defective before using it, we may be able to accept it back for exchange or credit; however, we suggest that you call our Customer Service Department before taking any action.

DAMAGED RETURNS

Damaged merchandise includes items that have been damaged in shipping. If a shipment arrives at your door with apparent shipping damage, please refuse the delivery. If you have already accepted delivery and then find shipping damage, please call our Customer Service Department immediately. Save all packaging material and paperwork; do not throw anything away! If you attempt to return the merchandise yourself, you will jeopardize our chances of making a claim, and you may not receive credit for the return.

RETURNING MERCHANDISE

We will accept merchandise for return that was purchased from Oakridge Hobbies, and its affiliated websites, within 30 days of receipt. All authorized returns are subject to a 15% Restocking Fee. Shipping Fees are not refundable. In the event that merchandise is approved for return, the merchandise will either be replaced or a credit will be issued in the form of credit toward another purchase at Oakridge. All packaging of products are inspected prior to shipment. The merchandise must be in new and unused condition and in its original unopened packaging. Opened packaging, broken seals, items removed from packaging, used, tested, abused, crashed items, running fuel through a model engine, installing radio parts in a model, cutting up or opening parts in kits, running out of materials provided in a kit, discarding the packing material are some examples of what constitutes used and unreturnable merchandise. We do not accept returns via COD or billed to Oakridge Hobbies, or its affiliated websites, in any way. No refund will be credited for any shipping costs. No returned merchandise will be accepted without an authorization number. Any and all Returns are returned at the customer's expense as we do not reimburse or pay for shipping. We also will not pay for any postage due on any Returns. All Returns must have a Return Authorization Number. Without a Return Authorization, your return will not be accepted, authorized or recognized, regardless of any proof of mailing. The Return Authorization Number must be clearly marked on the outside of the package in large bold print and adjacent to the address label.

BACKORDERS AND ORDERS PENDING

Most items ship within seven days. We backorder out-of-stock merchandise whenever possible unless you specify that you do not want an item backordered. Certain sale merchandise, products with uncertain availability, items priced under $10.00 and discontinued items may not be backordered. We only charge our shipping charge once per order and will not charge you twice for orders containing backorders. You may cancel your backorders at any time prior to the order invoicing, being picked, packed and shipping, by emailing or calling into our Customer Service Department. Backorders shipped at our expense will be shipped via the most economical shipper. Refused orders and backorder shipments will be charged the shipping charge, return shipping charge and a 15% restocking fee. We are internationally known for our wide selection of products. Most items shipped within two business days. Scale Modeling Dimensions FAQ's

I have Department 56 Dickens Village Houses and want to look at scale modeling and model railroad train accessories to add to my scene. The people are from 2.5 to 2.75 tall and houses are up to 9.25 tall. Is there a train or hobby scale that will fit this scale so that I can interchange the two? I did not know where to get the information so thought I would try you. Thank you so much for your help!
Trying to scale model with Dept 56 is very difficult as, even within the line, nothing matches!
The houses are approximately HO or S scale......
The people are approximately G scale......
The Dept 56 train is approximately O scale......
The Dept 56 autos are slightly larger than O scale......

The best way for us to help you is with this bit of info.
In real life, a door is about 7 ft tall.
In real life, a man is about 6 ft tall.
In HO scale, a man is about .75" tall. (1/8"=1')
In HO scale, a door is about .875" tall. (1/8"=1')
In O scale, a man is about 1.5" tall. (1/4"=1')
In O scale, a door is about 1.75" tall. (1/4"=1')
In G scale, a man is about 3" tall. (1/2"=1')
In G scale, a door is about 3.5" tall. (1/2"=1')

Thus ... Dept. 56's Dickens Village is all over the place as far as scale goes! You need to make a decision as to whether you want to continue to mix and match as Department 56 does, or if you want to be more consistant in scale and go for matching the scale, to the scale of the bulk of the Dept. 56 Dickens Village houses and buildings. If you choose the later, you'll either want HO or O Scale, depending on the scale of most of your houses and buildings.

I have a dollhouse that I have been working on for awhile. I am not sure what scale furniture to use in my dollhouse. Is there a simple way to figure this out? Please help.
A six foot tall person will be 11-12" tall in a PLAYSCALE "Barbie Size", Fashion Doll Scale dollhouse.
The dollhouse doors will be approximately 12-14" high
A six foot tall person will be 6" tall in a 1" Scale dollhouse. The dollhouse doors will be approximately 7" high

I collect model diecast cars in the 1/24 scale from Franklin and Danbury Mint. I would like to build some scale period garages for display, but am confused about scales. What scale would "1/24 scale" translate into for ordering miniature and railroad components and supplies? Would that be "G" scale otherwise known as "1/2" scale?
Yes..."G" scale.
G scale is a broad scale. In model railroading, there are a number of train and model railroading manufacturers that make trains and accessories in what they call "G" Scale, but they actually vary is scale between manufacturers, from 1:20, 1:22, 1:24 & 1:25 (1/2" scale). Because 1/2 Scale or (G) Scale or 1:24 Scale items are hard to find, most hobbiest and scale modelers will mix and match the use of items across the spectrum of the scale.

Do you have any windows and doors to fit 1/6 scale houses? I am building a Barbie house and I am having a hard time finding the right size items, especially doors?
A Barbie Doll or Fashion Doll will be 11-12" tall, which is considered a PLAYSCALE "Barbie Size", Fashion Doll (2"=1') Scale dollhouse. The dollhouse doors will be approximately 12-14" high.

The scale numbers mean nothing if I donÕt have the dimensions of the original item. I am looking at the scale items at your website from 121 Scale to 1:160 Scale and have no idea how to relate to these numbers. Please provide guidance.
Here is the best way for us to help you to easily understand "scale" with this bit of information below.

Example:
In real life, a door is about 7 ft tall.
In real life, a man is about 6 ft tall.

So...........

In N scale, (1:160) a man is about .375" (3/8") tall. (1/16"=1 foot)
In N scale, (1:160) a door is about .44" (7/16") tall. (1/16"=1 foot)
In HO scale, (1:87), a man is about .75" (3/4") tall. (1/8"=1 foot)
In HO scale, (1:87), a door is about .875" (7/8") tall. (1/8"=1 foot)
In S scale, a man is about 1.125" (1-1/8") tall. (3/16"=1 foot)
In O scale, (1:48), (1/4" Scale), a man is about 1.5" tall. (1/4"=1 foot)
In O scale, (1:48), (1/4" Scale),a door is about 1.75" tall. (1/4"=1 foot)
In G scale, (1:22), a man is about 2.75" tall. (approx. 3/8"=1 foot)

So ... if you are looking at a miniature building which has a standard front door of a height of approximately 1" high, then that miniature building will be approximately "HO" scale.

... If you are wanting to build a scale model of your house, which is approximately 50 feet wide, and you want the model to only be approximately 12 inches wide, then you would need to model the house in "O" Scale.

I can order online?
But of course! All you need is a name, a credit card and you're set! Take a look at our online order form for easy "browse and buy" fun!

Is this shopping basket secure?
Yes, all transactions are made via an SSL secure server.

Where do I enter my personal information like my mailing address?
All personal information is taken at the time of "checkout", after you submit your order.

Is my credit card account immediately deducted?
No. Your order is first processed and then you will be charged for instock items only. Items out of stock will be placed on back order and you will be notified.

Are there shipping costs?
Yes. A shipping chart is available on our Shipping Information page. Shipping is not calculated on our online order form and is added on when we fill your order. You will be notified via email or telephone of your final order total.

If I am an Oakridge Club member, should I include my discount in the item price?
No. Your discount is taken when we process your order, but please note it within the "messages" text area at the bottom of the shopping cart list as a reminder. Club discount may only apply to items that are not on Sale or "Sale" priced.

If I have a special request such as a shipping preference or a date needed by, where do I mention it?
There is a "messages" text area below the order form where special requests or notes can be placed. We will do our best to fulfill your requests and will get back with you if there are any problems.

Am I restricted to ordering only online?
